Hello friends and neighbors!

Can you believe tomorrow is August already? But don’t worry. Unlike our friends up north, the Crystal Coast isn’t winding down. There is always so much to experience here.

The New Bern Police Department invites the public to attend the annual National Night Out at Union Point Park on Aug. 5 from 5 pm to 8 pm. The event will allow area residents the chance to meet first responders from multiple agencies, including the New Bern Police Department’s K-9 officers and will feature games, food and vital community information.

It’s a very special time of year on Emerald Isle. Turtle hatching season. The Emerald Isle Sea Turtle Partol reported a 75 percent hatching rate so far, with more than 300 hatchlings making it to the water successfully. But remember, if you see turtle nests or hatchlings, stay clear and don’t interfere.
