This weekend is the official start of Summer - but we know better. Summer has already been in full swing on the Crystal Coast!

There have been a few new additions to the Crystal Coast recently:

Anglers and sightseers will be pleased to find a new public Fishing Pier in New Bern. It is located on the Neuse River, at the end of Broad Street.
We welcome Bogue Inlet Grocery, on Bogue Inlet Drive in Emerald Isle. They offer fresh baked goods, fresh produce, small-batch, locally roasted coffee, and other refreshing drinks.

Friday, June 20

Candle Making Class - Michelle & Laura's Charcuterie Creations, Newport | 6-8 pm | $ | Spend the evening crafting your very own custom 7oz candle. Charcuterie is available for purchase at the event! Wine is complimentary while supplies last.
Fantastic Fish Family Storytime - Newport Library, Newport | 11 am to Noon | Free | an exciting presentation about the wonderful world of fantastic fish with special guests, the Maritime Museum.
Summer Concert Series with Hank Barbee and the Dust Parade - Fort Macon State Park, Atlantic Beach | 6:30 - 8 pm | Free | Concert in the Fort parade ground. You may bring food and drinks to this event, but alcohol and pets are not allowed.
Retro Movie Night in the Park: E.T. - Atlantic Beach Town Park, Atlantic Beach | 8:30 pm | Enjoy a movie under the stars with ample parking, restrooms, and space to set up chairs or blankets. Free popcorn. The Town Park Concession Stand will also be open selling Dippin’ Dots ice cream, candy, drinks, slushies & more!
Sankofa 2025 - New Bern Civic Theater, New Bern | 7:30 pm | $ | A center stage celebration of African American arts, heritage, and culture that fills the theater with song, dance, and spoken word.

Salt Painting - Newport Library, Newport | 11 am to Noon | Free | Combine science and art with this fun salt painting activity. For all ages.
Sankofa 2025 - New Bern Civic Theater, New Bern | 2 pm and 7:30 pm | $ | A center stage celebration of African American arts, heritage, and culture that fills the theater with song, dance, and spoken word.
Shootout By The Sea - Carteret County Speedway, Peletier | 7-11 pm | $ | The East Coast Flathead Fords take over the track along with the Chargers, Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Legends, UCAR's & Bombers for an Exciting Night of Short-Track Racing Action!
Kids Carving - Core Sound Decoy Carvers Guild, Beaufort | 10 am - Noon | Free, but please pre-register | Kids 7-15 work with decoy carvers and painters at the Guild workshop to learn how to carve and paint ducks and shorebirds.

Cape Lookout National Seashore Astronomy Night - Cape Lookout National Seashore, Smyrna | 7:30 - 11:00 pm | $ for the Ferry, the event is free | Join a park ranger for a starry night beside the Cape Lookout Lighthouse. The park ranger will give a program about different constellations, stories about using the stars for navigation, and more. Reservations required.
Trivia Night - Carolina Home and Garden, Newport | 6:30-8:30 pm | Free | Enjoy family fun trivia and test your brain skills. Garden of Eaten will be serving from their food truck and also woodfired pizza! Enjoy drinks from the bar & discounted wines, too, for wine down Wednesday!

Kayak the Salt Marsh - Gallants Channel, Beaufort | 9 am - Noon | $ | Learn about salt marshes and wildlife while on the water. Basic kayak instruction and safety lessons on shore are followed by a 1.5-mile paddle through the salt marsh. Bring your own kayak for a discount. The program is recommended for ages 12 and up, adult supervision required for under 18.
Mixed Media Collage Class - Arts Council of Carteret County, Morehead City | 1-4 pm | $ | In this unique class you will hear a Greek myth about the sea and discuss the messages behind the story. Then you will create mixed media collage pieces inspired by the story using magazine images, papers, and paint.
Paint by Numbers - Newport Library, Newport | 11 am to 1 pm | Free | An afternoon of painting by numbers. For adults, registration required.
Purvis Chapel Choir Concert - Beaufort Historic Site, Beaufort | 7 - 9 pm | $ | A concert by the Purvis Chapel Choir held at one of the oldest AME Zion churches in the state.
