From The Emerald Tidings:

The Town off Emerald Isle is working with the NC Coastal Federation and the Sandbar Oyster Company to install living shoreline demonstration projects at two soundside locations in Emerald Isle.

New "oyster catcher" tables and pillows will be installed to create sills that promote oyster growth, retention of sediment, and proliferation of healthy marsh grasses at the Town's soundside access points at Park Drive and 10th Street. These projects are intended to serve as demonstration projects to enable the Town to evaluate their effectiveness for application at other locations in Emerald Isle in the future.

These projects are expected to be constructed later this fall or winter. The Town greatly appreciates the partnership with the NC Coastal Federation and the Sandbar Oyster Company on this project!
