Now that it’s October the Calendar is a bit less hectic. Phew! But the nice thing about this month is the great weather (hurricanes not welcome!). That makes it the perfect time for FESTIVALS. We have some great ones coming up. Make sure you check out this week’s and future events.

Friday, October 3

  • The 39th Annual North Carolina Seafood Festival, Morehead City.
    The largest three-day festival in North Carolina is a fun-filled event with food, entertainment, kids’ activities, vendors, and artisans

    It’s not quite the Crystal Coast, but The Ol' Front Porch Music Festival has a lineup of Folk, Americana, Bluegrass, Country, Gospel, and Jazz musicians with arts, crafts, food & more.

  • The Laramie Project at the New Bern Civic Theater, New Bern.
    Based on a true story, this play reveals the lowest depths of hatred and greatest heights of compassion possible within any community.

  • Tidewater Traditions: Ancient Coastal Harvesting Experience at Cedar Island.
    Step back in time and connect with the Carolina coast through ancestral harvesting methods passed down through generations.

Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear white coats. On November 11th - Veterans Day - Dr. Jarrett Darrah, a Navy combat veteran and dentist in Cedar Point, will dedicate his entire day to free dental care for veterans in need. Appointments are necessary, so veterans in need who want to schedule an appointment for free dental services on Nov. 11 should call the Anchor Dental office at 252-263-1500.


Here’s a heads-up for anyone planning on driving in and around Morehead City this weekend. Expect greater than usual traffic and delays due to the North Czrolina Seafood Festival Friday through Sunday. The greatest delays will liely be between 8 and 9 am on Saturday, during the Twin Bridges Race.
